At Uptown Dental, we’re excited to announce a wonderful way to restore your teeth. Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic — CEREC® for short — is a new state-of-the-art method for reconstructing tooth restorations.
CEREC uses computer-assisted design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to offer single-day restorations for patients. This new technology has revolutionized ceramic restorations such as crowns and veneers. Now you needn’t wait between preparing the restoration and finally receiving the finished product.
We use the CEREC technology while you sit in the dental chair. This saves both you time and money.
CEREC restorations are metal-free and tooth colored and restore your tooth to its natural beauty, strength, and function. With CEREC’s CAD-CAM technology, these ceramic restorations can be completed in a single visit to Uptown Dental.
CEREC has revolutionized the restorative process. Created with the patient in mind, CEREC makes your dental visit as pain-free as possible.
There are many advantages to using CEREC. You will appreciate:
- Learning most procedures can be completed in just one visit. This saves you time and money.
- Having fewer painful injections due to the single visit
- Skipping the need to take messy impressions
- Avoiding the need to have a temporary restoration to use between visits

The PICASSO Lite ~ A Soft Tissue Dental Laser
Uptown Dental loves to stay current with the most up-to-date technology to serve our patients with the best dentistry has to offer.
The PICASSO Lite is a soft tissue dental laser designed for a variety of oral soft tissue procedures utilizing solid state diodes. The laser is most commonly used by our hygienist in adjunction to periodontal disease therapy as a means of disinfection.
Dr. Joe Lenz uses the Picasso Laser for a number of procedures including: removal of soft tissue abnormalities, such as irritating tissue growths and high frenum attachments, to treat and alleviate the pain of a cold sore or other oral trauma, and to perform esthetic gingival contouring to enhance your smile. Intraoral Camera ~ You See What We See!
Our office uses an intra-oral camera to aid in our treatment plan. This amazing device is a miniature video camera that helps us examine your teeth by magnifying the inside of your mouth more than forty (40) times and allows us to show you an enlarged image of what is happening in your mouth on a computer screen.
You will be able to see for yourself which teeth need attention and which teeth are perfectly healthy!

Velscope - The Oral Cancer Screening System
This system helps Dr. Lenz visualize abnormalities in the mucosal tissues of your lips, mouth and upper throat. In just two minutes, with no rinses, stains or discomfort, a VELscope examination improves our assessment of your overall oral health.
VELscope's blue light "excites" molecules (called "fluorophores") deep within the layers of oral mucosal tissues. A filter makes fluorescence visualization possible, by blocking reflected blue light, and by enhancing the contrast between normal and abnormal tissue.
Make sure that your mouth is as healthy as it can possibly be. Ask us about a VELscope exam.
Diagnodent - Early Cavity Detection
The Diagnodent is a simple, fast and painless approach to early detection of tooth decay. A low intensity laser is able to detect decay in its early stages by measuring the laser light within the tooth structure. This early detection permits the use of minimally invasive treatments when restoring the tooth.
Make sure that your mouth is as healthy as it can possibly be. Ask us about a Diagnodent exam.
Isolite - Provides patient comfort!
Dr. Lenz reduces your time spent in his dental chair by 20 to 30% by using the innovative Isolite Dryfiled Illuminator System. This system will illuminate the interior of your mouth allowing unprecedented visibility, access and moisture control. The soft and flexible mouthpiece affords comfortable retraction of your cheek and provides a rest area for your jaw making a more enjoyable procedure.
This system provides continuous suction of debris and oral fluids, eliminating the use of cotton rolls and rubber dams. Dr. Lenz and his staff realize a patient's comfort is of utmost importance. This is why they offer the unique Isolite System to their patients. Come and experience the difference. Click on the Isolite logo for more information on this system.
