Dr. Joe Lenz
Dr. Joe Lenz received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. He also received his Bachelor of Science, with honors, in Exercise Science from the University of Iowa.
Born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, Dr. Lenz graduated from Hempstead High School. He is married to Hannah (Meyer) Lenz, a native of Ely, Iowa. She is a teacher at Bowman Woods Elementary in the Linn Mar Community School District. Joe and Hannah have two daughters, Mavis and Edith.
Dr. Lenz’s treatment philosophy is to provide the highest standard of dental care with minimally invasive techniques. His focus is on the prevention of future dental disease. He feels that each patient should be treated with honesty, respect, and compassion. Dr. Lenz offers and explains all your dental treatment options so you can make informed decisions about your personal care.
As a lifelong learner, Dr. Lenz is passionate about continuing education and implementing new technology in his office to improve patient experiences. He is a member in good standing with the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, and the Linn County Dental Society, where he serves as a board member.
When he is not creating beautiful smiles in the office, Dr. Lenz enjoys being involved in the community. He is a member of the Marion/East Cedar Rapids Rotary Club, he coaches youth ice hockey at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, and he gives dental presentations throughout the community. In addition, Dr. Lenz enjoys playing and watching sports, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Matthew Mueller
Dr. Mueller received his undergraduate degree in biology from Central College in Pella, Iowa. He then went on to receive his dental degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics.
Dr. Mueller enjoys rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes, St. Louis Cardinals, and Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoys golfing in the summer, biking, reading, watching movies, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Cassie received her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Dental Assisting from Kirkwood Community College in 2007. Cassie is a Registered Dental Assistant with radiography qualifications.
Cassie started her dental career working as a receptionist in a dental office. After completing her education, she then worked as a dental assistant before transitioning back to a receptionist. Cassie has been working in the dental field for almost 14 years and over the years she has worked both clinically and reception. Cassie loves meeting and building relationships with our patients.
Cassie grew up in Marengo, IA, and currently lives in Marion with her husband and two daughters. Cassie enjoys listening to and playing music, spending time on the lake in the summer and spending time with her family.
Jane, Registered Dental Assistant
Jane is from Chicago and has been a Registered Dental Assistant for more than 20 years in our community. She enjoys the relationships she has created with our patients. She has the longest tenure in our office, having worked with Dr. Dan Trimble, the previous dentist.
In order to further her dental knowledge, Jane attends a number of continuing education courses including the yearly Iowa Dental Association. She is trained in medical emergencies and certified in CPR/AED and dental radiography. Jane is married to Todd and they have a son, Jordon. In her free time, Jane enjoys camping and spending time with her family and friends.
Jeni, Registered Dental Assistant RDA, EFDA
Jeni graduated from the Kirkwood Community College dental assisting program in 2010, and then continued her education to work towards getting her expanded functions in 2015 through Kirkwood Community College as well.
Jeni's husband, Andrew and her live in Springville and have two little boys, Everett and Easton. Jeni loves spending her free time with her family and friends, traveling and being outdoors.
Jeni really enjoys building long-lasting personal relationships with our amazing patients and hopes to make their visits with us just a little more enjoyable. Jeni also loves working with the children in our office.
Karen had been in the medical field for more than 20 years as a transcriptionist before she switched her focus to the dental world a little over 10 years ago. Karen loves working with people and enjoys taking care of our patients’ needs at the front desk.
Karen’s organizational skills have improved our overall patient care. Karen is married to Ted and they have two adult children. They have lived in Marion for more than 25 years and really love the “small town” feel of the community. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, reading, and volunteering at her family’s church.
Karrie, Registered Dental Hygienist
Karrie graduated with her dental hygiene degree in 2001, and has been a dental hygienist for over 18 years. Karrie is also a member of IDHA. Karrie has 15 years' experience in general private practice and 3 years in a periodontal office. She was a clinic instructor for 2 years for Kirkwood Community College’s dental hygiene program, and is also a continuing education speaker for dental professionals.
Karrie has been married to her husband Brian for 16 years. They have 2 sons, Collin and Justin. They enjoy going to their football and basketball games and taking their annual vacations to Florida. They enjoy spending time at their families cabin on the Cedar River in the summer.
Sara, Registered Dental Hygienist
Sara received her Associate of Applied Science degrees in Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene from Kirkwood Community College. She holds Iowa licenses in Dental hygiene and Local Anesthesia as well as certification in CPR/AED. She also received training at the University of Iowa dental school in Nitrous Oxide inhalation administration.
Sara is married to Ben and they have 2 sons, Grayson and Tate. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors with family and keeping busy with boys' activities.
Leah, Registered Dental Hygienist
Leah graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 2021 in Dental Hygiene along with receiving her license to administer local anesthesia. She loves working with patients and helping improve their overall health.
Leah lives in Cedar Rapids with her fiancé, Josh, and toy poodle, Oakley. They’re planning a wedding for December of 2022. In her free time, Leah enjoys being outdoors, camping, fishing, and spending time watching movies.
Katie, Registered Dental Hygienist
Katie graduated in 2001 with her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene along with receiving her license to administer local anesthesia. Her favorite part of dental hygiene is interacting with patients and making their hygiene appointments as enjoyable as possible.
Katie grew up as a "farm kid" in rural Wyoming, Iowa. She currently lives in Olin where she and her husband, Kahm, are raising their two sons, Zain and Grady. They enjoy spending time in the bleachers watching their boys play many sports. Watching the boys’ successes is a great joy. Katie also loves the outdoors, spending time at the family cabin at Lake Delhi in the summer, and snowmobile trips up north in the winter.
Christy, Registered Dental Hygienist
Christy has been in the dental field for 26 years. She attended the Kirkwood Dental Assisting Program and graduated in 1995. She returned to Kirkwood after 10 years as a dental assistant to attend their Dental Hygiene Program. She has been a hygienist for 14 years.
Christy has taught with the Kirkwood Hygiene Program as a clinical and classroom instructor for 11 years. She is also involved with Public Health Free Clinic Programs. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 2018 along with Expanded Dental Hygiene Functions.
In her spare time, Christy enjoys being outside with her husband, Dan, and three children, Solae, Cohen, and Emrie; playing basketball, catch, or having a bonfire.
Alex, Registered Dental Assistant
Alex graduated from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Dental Assisting in 2015. She enjoys getting to know each patient and making them feel comfortable.
Alex grew up in Vinton, Iowa but now lives outside of Cascade on a farm with her husband, Chris, and chocolate lab, Gunner. In her free time, Alex spends time with family and friends, boating on Lake Delhi, and goes to country concerts.
