Dental Implants

Dental Implants

If you have missing teeth because of tooth decay, periodontal disease, or an injury, dental implants can restore your smile. Unlike dentures or bridges, dental implants are fixed, replacement tooth roots. This means there’s no attachment to existing healthy teeth and no hassle with daily removal and cleaning.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants offer a long-term, cost-effective solution for replacing teeth by providing a root solution with a crown on top. They may be useful for:

  • Replacing single teeth or multiple missing teeth
  • Replacing an outdated bridge
  • Stabilizing or eliminating a full or partial removable denture

Dental implants look, feel and function like your natural teeth so you can eat and smile with comfort and confidence. Still not convinced? Following are some additional benefits.

Advantages of dental implants:

  • Improve appearance and self-esteem
  • Improve oral health
  • Make eating and speaking easier
  • Cavities cannot form on implants
  • Convenient, permanent solution
  • Durable and functional like real teeth

With dental implants, you are able to brush, floss and clean your teeth as you normally would. Where a dental bridge must be removed for cleaning, dental implants stay in place for decades.

What to Expect from the Dental Implantation Process

So how does dental implantation work? Depending on your specific condition, Dr. Lenz or Dr. Mueller will develop a comprehensive, individual restorative treatment plan tailored to meet your needs.

First, the implant is placed in the jawbone. Then, a healing period begins while the new implant attaches to the bone, which typically lasts 6-12 weeks. Finally, using the incredibly accurate CEREC technology to scan your mouth, we create a prosthetic crown and attach it to the implant post during a single-day restoration. Follow-up care is completed at regular dental checkups. You can maintain your regular oral health routine of brushing and flossing daily.

If you have additional questions or are interested in a dental implant solution, whether to replace a lost molar or a broken bridge, please give us a call or contact us.
